Checking Toe-In

A—Front Axle Toe-In Distance

1. Park machine on level surface.

2. Turn steering wheel so front wheels are in the

straight-ahead position. Stop engine.

3. Measure distance (A) between tyres at hub level in

front of axle. Record measurement and mark the
tyres.

4. Move tractor back about 1 m (3 ft), so mark is at

hub level behind the axle. Again, measure distance

between tyres at same point on tyre. Record
measurement.

5. Determine the difference between front and rear

measurements. If the front measurement is smaller,
toe is “in”. If the rear is smaller, toe is “out”.

6. Distance (A) at front of tyres should be 3—6 mm

less than distance measured for at rear of tyres.
Adjust toe-in if necessary. (See procedure in this
section.)
