3500 Series Indicators and Switches

Name

Function

OK

Normal Operation

This green indicator lights when the DSU is
connected to the digital network or LADS and is
operating normally. It goes Off if the OS/NS
alarm indicator is active.

OS/NS

Out-of-Service/No Signal

This red indicator signals a network failure:

OS – Slow flash when Out-of-Service or
Out-of-Frame messages are received from
the network.

NS (No Signal) – Rapid flash when DSU is
not receiving signals from the network.

TEST

Test

This yellow indicator lights whenever the digital
network or a remote DSU initiates testing, or the
local TP, LL, DL, or RL key is pressed to start
testing. The test indicator flashes while tests are
being set up or taken down.

REM

Remote

This yellow indicator lights whenever a test
request is received from a remote DSU or the
digital network.

If the DSU has been placed in a Network Loopback, then both the OK and OS/NS indicators will be lit (the

TEST and REM indicators will also be lit).
