Point-to-Point Digital Test Procedures

Follow the procedure in Table 3-3 to perform a Digital

Test (Point-to-Point).

Point-to-Point Digital Test Results

If the FAIL indicator remained Off for the entire test

interval, the Digital Test has passed and no problems have
been detected in either the DSUs or the network. If the
FAIL indicator flashed sporadically, you may have
experienced network-related data errors. If the FAIL
indicator flashed continuously, there is a hard failure in
either a DSU or the network.

1.

Press the RL test switch.

RL indicator lights. TEST flashes for 6 seconds and then remains
ON.

2.

Press the TP test switch and run
the test for the desired test interval.

TP indicator lights. TXD and RXD indicators flash.

Look for FAIL

flashes during the test interval.

3.

Press the TP test switch.

TP indicator goes Off. TXD and RXD now indicate interface lead
status.

4.

Press the RL test switch.

RL indicator goes Off. TEST flashes for 6 seconds and goes Off.

During this test, TXD, LSD, and RXD DTE interface indicators monitor internal versions of the corresponding

interface lead.
