Removing the Battery

Before opening the battery-chamber/memory card slot
cover, turn the camera off (

A19) and confirm that the

power-on lamp and the monitor are off.
To eject the battery, open the battery-chamber/memory
card slot cover and slide the battery latch in the direction
shown (1). Then, remove the battery straight (2).
Note that the battery or memory card may become hot during use; observe due

caution when removing the battery.

Turning On and Off the Camera

Press the power switch.
The power-on lamp (green) and the
monitor are turned on (when the
monitor is turned on, the power-on lamp
turns off ).
Press the power switch again to turn off
the camera. When the power is turned
off, the power-on lamp and monitor also turn off.
When the camera is off, holding down the

c button turns on the camera in

playback mode (

A30).

Standby Mode (Auto Off)

If no operations are performed, the monitor is turned off automatically, the camera enters standby
mode and the power-on lamp blinks. The camera turns off when the standby mode continues for
about three minutes.
When the power-on lamp blinks, turn on the monitor again with one of the following operations.

- Press the power switch, the shutter-release button or the

c button.

- Rotate the mode dial.

During shooting or playback, if no operations are performed for about a minute (default setting),

the camera enters standby mode.

The time that elapses before the camera enters standby mode can be changed from the Auto off

(

A181) in the setup menu (A167).
