To turn on the monitor in the power save standby mode, press the power switch or
shutter-release button (

Note on the Flash

When the built-in flash is lowered, the flash setting is fixed to off and W appears at the top of the
monitor. In situations where a flash is needed, such as in dark locations or when the subject is backlit,
be sure to raise the built-in flash (

A33).

Functions Available in A (Auto) Mode

Focus mode (

A40) and exposure compensation (A43) can be applied and pictures can be taken

using the flash mode (

A32) and self-timer (A35).

The image quality/image size can be changed by rotating the quick menu dial to

a and pressing
