Storage and maintenance

6.1

Replacing the battery

Though the battery life depends on the operating environment and frequency of use, replacement
of the battery is recommended whenever the battery operation time becomes very short.
Contact Olympus about changing the battery.
For details about how to load and remove the battery, see "Using the battery" (P. 12).

CAUTION

• Never use a battery other than the one specified by Olympus. Otherwise, failure of the instrument may not

only lead to a malfunction but also a fire.

• Be careful not to leave any foreign objects in the battery compartment when replacing the battery.

Otherwise, a fire or malfunction may result.

Replacing the O-ring

6-mm type

Apply silicon grease to the spare O-ring that comes with the optical adapter and replace it.

4-mm type

Contact Olympus.

6.3

Cleaning components

Cleaning the insertion tube

Dirt or other foreign matter on the insertion tube
Wipe with a clean soft cloth.

Dirty water, machine oil, or other liquid on the insertion tube
Wipe with a soft cloth or cotton swab, and then wash thoroughly with a piece of gauze or other
material moistened with a neutral detergent. Next, use a clean, soft piece of soft gauze moistened
with clean water, and then wipe the insertion tube dry of all moisture.

CAUTION

• Clean the insertion tube immediately after withdrawing the insertion tube. Leaving the insertion tube very

dirty for long periods can cause it to become corroded.

• Do not use a hard cloth or hard brush for cleaning the insertion tube. Otherwise, the equipment may be

damaged.

• Do not clean the optical adapter under running water. Otherwise, the equipment may be damaged.
