7 Troubleshooting

The optical adapter cannot be
attached to the insertion tube.

A foreign object is stuck to the screws.

Wipe with a clean piece of gauze or a cotton swab.

The optical adapter in use is not a designated optical adapter for this system.

Use the designated optical adapter.

The installation procedure is not correct.

Reinstall using the correct procedure ("Attaching the optical adapter" (P. 14)).

The optical adapter cannot be
removed from the insertion
tube.

The nut of the optical adapter is rotated in the wrong direction.

Reinstall using the correct procedure ("Attaching the optical adapter" (P. 14)).

The system cannot be turned
on.

The AC adapter or the battery is not connected.

Connect the AC adapter or the battery correctly. (See "Preparing the power

supply" (P. 12).)

The Power button is not on.

Turn on the main unit POWER button (

).

A non-designated AC adapter or battery is connected.

Use the designated AC adapter or battery.

The system cannot be turned
off.

The main unit is damaged.

Remove the AC adapter or the battery from the main unit to turn off the power.

The image is not sharp.

The objective lens on the distal end or the optical adapter is dirty.

Wipe with a clean piece of gauze or a cotton swab.

The optical adapter is attached improperly.

Attach the optical adapter properly.

The image brightness is not
optimum.

The automatic brightness control is set erroneously.

Perform the [BRT] lever operation to configure the proper setting.

The objective lens on the distal end or the optical adapter is dirty, or the
illumination on the optical adapter distal end is dirty.

Wipe with a clean piece of gauze or a cotton swab.

Extended use under high ambient temperatures causes decreased light
emissions.

Replace the optical adapter with a new one.

Color reproduction is poor.

The white balance is set improperly.

Re-adjust white balance.

The image is noisy.

The automatic brightness control is set erroneously.

Perform the [BRT] lever operation to configure the proper setting.

Angulation cannot be returned
to its original attitude.

The angulation lock is engaged.

Rotate the angulation lock ring to release the angulation lock.

Operation load for articulation is
getting heavier.

Angle lock is engaged

Rotate the angulation lock ring to release the angulation lock.

All the functions stopped during
motion image recording.

The SD card being used for image recording is not the one provided and is not
one recommended by Olympus.

Remove the AC adapter or the battery from the main unit to turn off the power.

Use an SD card recommended by Olympus.
