WarNING!

For trucks with automatic

transmissions, it is highly

recommended that the Banks

Brake be used with the Banks

smartLock for optimal braking

performance

DO NOt install the Banks

smartLock if either one of the

following applies:

1) the PCm is not located on the

passenger side firewall behind

the battery.

2) the engine is a high-output

(325-hp rated) engines.

1.

as a precaution, disconnect the

ground of the battery (if there is
more than one battery, disconnect
both grounds).

2.

raise the front of the vehicle

and support it with properly
weight rated safety stands, ramps
or a commercial hoist. Follow the
manufacturer’s safety precautions.
take care to support the vehicle to
prevent it from slipping or falling.
When using ramps, be sure the
front wheels are centered squarely
on the topsides; place transmission
in park; set the parking brake
and place blocks behind the rear
wheels.

3.

remove the front tire on the

driver side. remove the front
wheelhouse splash shield on the
driver side by removing eight (8)
screws (8mm head). Detach the
aBs wire that is clipped on the

splash shield before completely
removing the shield to avoid
damage to the wire.

4.

For 2003 vehicles only: Locate

the large black electrical connector
on the driver’s side between the
battery and the firewall. see
Figure 1. remove the two (2)
