11.2 Backup and Restore

Select Utilities > Backup/Restore to access the following items:

Backup

Restore

The Backup and Restore utilities are used to back up and restore user-created models, spreadsheet logs,
Micro-PWC configuration data, and string files. Options are included to permit listing these files from the
Micro-PWC disk, as well as listing the contents of a tape.

11.2.1 The Backup Utility

Access the Backup utility by selecting Menu > Utilities > Backup/Restore > Backup. The Backup window
(

Figure 11-1

) will appear.

Only one Backup window can be opened per Micro-PWC.

CAUTION DO NOT USE THE BACKUP UTILITY TO PLACE

CONFIGURATION DATA ON MEDIA WHICH CONTAIN DATA
BACKED UP WITH A DIFFERENT BACKUP UTILITY.

For example, do not attempt to backup configuration data on a tape
or diskette which already contains data backed up with the
Windows backup feature. Mixing of backup formats on the same
media is not supported, and may result in a backup that cannot be
restored.

NOTE

The BACKUP and RESTORE utilities do support backing up data to
a file. This file can be backed up with a third party backup utility to
storage media. Restoring the data is a two step process:

1. Use the third-party utility to restore the file, then

2. Use the RESTORE utility, specifying the restored file as input.
