5.3 Spreadsheet Logs

Spreadsheet logs are used to obtain data from, change, and put data into the Global database. The data is
loaded into spreadsheets, allowing the user to format, store, and perform calculations on live process data.
The spreadsheet logs are accessed by selecting the Spreadsheet Logs radio button, located on the Log
Print
window (

Figure 5-1

). The list box in the Log Print window will list all Spreadsheet Logs which have

been configured on the network.

The package used to perform the Micro-PWC Spreadsheet Log Configuration is Microsoft EXCEL.

5.3.1 Print Spreadsheet Logs

The Print button on the Log Print window allows the user to print logs on demand. Click this button to dis-
play the Print Log window (

Figure 5-3

).

The first item on this window is the log name. Below the log name is the Device button. If a device has
been selected, the device name will be displayed to the right of the Device button.

Click Device to display the Printer Selection window. Highlight the desired printer by clicking it, then click
OK to complete the selection operation, or click Cancel to exit without changing the device selection.

5.3.2 Clearing the Recovery Log Notify Window

A Recovery Log Notify window will appear when an attempt is made to print a spreadsheet log if the log
was previously printing (or open for edit) when Excel was terminated abnormally. To stop this window from
appearing each time the log is requested to print (or opened for edit), go into Log Configuration.

Log Configuration, which is discussed in the Micro-PWC Configuration Guide, is accessed by selecting
Menu > Configure > Logs from the System Window. Attempting to edit the spreadsheet log will cause the
Recovery Log Notify window to appear. To prevent this window from appearing every time an attempt is
made to print or edit the log, select the log's filename and select the Remove Recovery File option in the
window, then click on OK. After the spreadsheet is loaded, save the spreadsheet. If the spreadsheet is
not saved, the Recovery Log Notify window will continue to appear each time an attempt is made to print
(or load) the spreadsheet.
