9 Troubleshooting

This chapter provides Continuous Access Synchronous troubleshooting information.

Error codes and messages

Remote Web Console displays messages when error conditions occur during Continuous Access
Synchronous operations. The message describes the error and provides a part code and error
code.

The error message may also include a XP P9500 error code. You may need to contact HP for
assistance. See HP XP P9000 Remote Web Console Messages for a list of the error codes.

General troubleshooting

The following table provides a list of general errors.

Corrective action

Error

The Remote Web Console computer hangs, or
Continuous Access Synchronous operations do
not function properly.

Make sure that the problem is not being caused by the PC or
Ethernet hardware or software, and restart the PC. Restarting the
Remote Web Console computer does not affect storage system
operations.

Make sure that all Continuous Access Synchronous requirements
and restrictions are met (for example, same LU type).

Make sure that the primary and secondary system and data paths
are powered on and fully operational (NVS, cache).

Check all input values and parameters to make sure that you
entered the correct information about the Remote Web Console
computer (for example, remote system S/N and ID, path
parameters, P-VOL and S-VOL IDs).

Contact HP for assistance.

An initiator channel-enabled LED indicator (on
the XP P9500 control panel) is off or flashing.

Make sure that the correct CU is selected.

The pairs and/or secondary system are not
displaying correctly.

Resolve the error, and then try the Continuous Access Synchronous
operation again.

A Continuous Access Synchronous error message
displays on the PC.

Check the path status (RCU Status dialog box), and see

“Secondary

path status problems” (page 76)

.

The secondary system path status is not normal.

Pair status is PSUE.
