Installing the Server in a Rack
Attaching the Server Rails
To attach the server rails to the ProLiant DL740 server chassis:
IMPORTANT: Install the server rails with the smooth side of the rail against the server
chassis.
1. Align the four keyholes on one of the server rails above the four spools on the
side of the chassis.
2. Press the rail against the side of the chassis and slide the rail toward the front of
the server to snap and lock the rail into place.

IMPORTANT: Be sure that the first rail is firmly anchored to the chassis before attaching the
second rail.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 to secure the second rail to the server.
