Example 3

PROBLEM:

When I try using the LMM GUI to label a tape, no tape drive shows up in my drop-down
list...

SOLUTION:

Possible Reason #1:

Normally, this is a problem with the LMM GUI configuration. Check both the RUN
CONFIG and LMM GUI configuration to make sure the system name configured
matches the actual system name because the labeling process compares that:

Example:

\S7000 => $STKL700 => 192.168.1.99 => 4001 will work if you
are labeling on \S7000 machine

S7000 => $STKL700 => 192.168.1.99 => 4001 will not work if
you are labeling on \S7000 machine

Possible Reason #2:

You have to run the labeling process on a tape drive local to your LMM GUI. Labeling
with the LMM GUI will only work on a system with tape drives attached to it. Whatever
system the LMM GUI is attached to has to have a tape drive in the library. To configure
a Client LMM for your system, refer to Sections 2 and 3 in this manual.

Possible Reason #3:

Another problem could be that if you have an LMM version 5 and an LMM GUI version
of less than 5.0.0.8. When the 97XX series and L-series versions of LMM were
combined, an allowance was not made for DLT4000, since DLT4000 tape drives are
not supported in an L700 library. The version 5.0.0.8 GUI fixed that issue. Please
contact us if you need this GUI update.

Example 4

PROBLEM:

When I try and label a tape, I receive a message in the log about LABELING
PROCESS NOT OPEN...

SOLUTION:

This means that the program TSILMMSL is not running. Cycling the LMM processes
should bring TSILMMSL back up. Do this by first closing the LMM GUI, then issuing
the shutdown command for LMM in your environment on the NonStop system where
LMM resides, and then issuing the LMM startup command for your environment.
