Example 5

PROBLEM:

How do I handle tapes in my library with a label name of 'UNKNWN'?

SOLUTION:

The only time this will happen is if the library cannot read the tape's external label.

If you IPL the library with an UNKNWN piece of tape media present in one of the library
slots, the library will automatically export the UNKNWN tape media to the CAP for
operator intervention.

If there is an UNKNWN tape detected in a tape drive; dismount the tape media, the
library will then export it into the CAP for operator intervention.

Remove the tape[s] from the CAP and close the door. Refresh the CAP with the GUI,
determine why the library could not read the external label. Once this has been
determined and corrected, import the tape[s] back into the library. If you just export
them to the CAP, then without removing them, do another import; the library will still
have a record of them in it's database. You have to totally remove them from the
library to clear the database of the tape numbers.

Example 6

PROBLEM:

I am receiving SCSI exception errors when the CAP is opened/closed...

SOLUTION:

Prior to LMM v5.05, this happened when the CAP was opened/closed and the next
action, whether it is a mount, dismount, import, or export would cause the SCSI
exception error. The TSILMMS1 program for LMM v5.05 was changed to keep this
from happening.
