Select external volumes from the Discovered External Volumes list and enter the external volume
group number and their sequential number in the Initial Parity Group ID box, and then click
Add.

Select whether to create LDEVs in the external volume in Allow Simultaneous Creation of LDEVs.
If you want to take over the data of the external volume when you create LDEVs, select Yes in
Use External Storage System Configuration, and then enter an LDEV name in the LDEV Name
box. If you do not want to take over the data, select No in Use External Storage System
Configuration, and then enter an LDEV name in the LDEV Name box. If necessary, you can
also set the attribute of the external volume by clicking Options.

Selected LDEVs are displayed in the Selected External Volumes list.

Confirm the Selected External Volumes list. If you want to change SSIDs, click Edit SSIDs. If
you want to change the setting of the external volume or LDEVs allocated to the external
volume, click Change Settings.

When Yes is selected in Allow Simultaneous Creation of LDEVs and Yes is selected in Use
External Storage System Configuration, an LDEV whose emulation type is OPEN-V and has
the same capacity as the external volume is created. However, when the capacity of the
external volume is larger than 4 TB, an LDEV of 4 TB, the maximum capacity of the LDEV
whose emulation type is OPEN-V, is created.

When Yes is selected in Use External Storage System Configuration, select the arbitrary
emulation type from the Base Emulation Type list, and then enter the number of LDEVs to be
created in the Number of LDEVs per External Volumes box. When the capacity of the external
volume is smaller than the maximum capacity of the LDEV with the selected emulation type,
an LDEV is created. When the capacity of the external volume exceeds the maximum capacity
of the LDEV with the selected emulation type, multiple LDEVs (the specified number in the
Number of LDEVs per External Volumes box at maximum) with the selected emulation type
are created at the maximum capacity.

When the external volume is a command device, a remote command device is created
regardless of the selection of Allow Simultaneous Creation of LDEVs.When the external volume
is a command device, a command device is mapped as a remote command device. For details
about restrictions on mapping a command device as a remote command device, see

Remote

command device restrictions

. When the external volume is a command device, select Yes in

Allow Simultaneous Creation of LDEVs and Use External Storage System Configuration. In this
case, the cache mode of the remote command device is set to Disable regardless of the selection
of Cache Mode.

Setting the external paths

You need to configure the external path from the internal volume to the external volume before
using the external volume mapped as an internal virtual volume.

You can configure external paths when you map external volumes as internal virtual volumes. You
can also add or change the external paths after the mapping operation is completed.

CAUTION:

You cannot delete all the current external paths to substitute newly added external

paths for them in one operation. To replace all the current external paths with newly added external
paths, you need to perform more than two operations and leave at least one current external path
setting when you perform the first operation.
