NOTE:

When you detach the channel adaptor where external paths exist, it is necessary to delete

all external paths beforehand. When the channel adaptor is detached without deleting external
paths, it fails in detaching the channel adaptor.

Create new path group and configure external paths

To create a new path group and configure external paths, you need to perform the mapping
operation. For details of the mapping operation, see

“Mapping an external volume” (page 41)

.

To create a new path group and configure external paths:

1.

In Remote Web Console, select Add External Volumes from the General Tasks menu and
display the Add External Volumes window.

2.

Select By New External Path Group and click Create External Path Group to display the Create
External Path Group window.

3.

Select external paths from the Available External Paths list and click Add.

Selected paths are displayed in the Selected External Paths list.

When the external storage system or the WWN that you want to choose is not displayed in
the dialog box, you can update the information by clicking Discover External Target Ports,
selecting the port that connects to the WWN, and then clicking OK.

To change the priority of external paths, click Raise Priority or Lower Priority in the Selected
External Paths list. For details of changing the priority, see

“Change configured external path

priority” (page 44)

.

4.

Click OK.

Add external path to existing path group

To add the external path to an existing path group:

1.

Click External Storage in the Storage Systems tree.

The list of available external storage systems appear in the tree.

2.

In the tree, select an external storage system.

The path groups corresponding to the external storage system appear.

3.

Select the External Path Groups tab.

4.

Select path groups.

5.

On the menu bar, click Actions, External Storage, and then Edit External Path Configuration.
The Edit External Path Configuration window opens.

6.

Select external paths from the Available External Paths list and click Add.

Selected external storage systems are displayed in the Selected External Paths list.

When the external storage system or the WWN that you want to choose is not displayed in
the dialog box, you can update the information by clicking Discover External Target Ports,
selecting the port that connects to the WWN, and then clicking OK.

To change the priority of external paths, click Raise Priority or Lower Priority in the Selected
External Paths list. For details of changing the priority, see

“Change configured external path

priority” (page 44)

.

7.

Click Finish to display the Confirm window.

8.

Confirm the settings and enter the task name in the Task Name box.

9.

Click Apply in the Confirm window.
