Changing the cache mode

If the system cannot communicate with external volumes, the Inflow Control setting specifies whether
the write operation to cache is limited (Enable) or continued (Disable)). Disable is set by default.
You can change the setting in the Edit External Volumes window.

Required Role

Storage Administrator (Provisioning)

To change the cache mode setting
1.

Click External Storage in the Storage Systems tree.

The list of available external storage systems appear in the tree.

2.

In the tree, select an external storage system.

The path groups that correspond to the external storage system appear.

3.

Select a path group.

4.

Select the Mapped Volumes tab.

5.

Select an external volume.

6.

Open the Edit External Volumes window in one of these ways.

In the Mapped Volumes tab, click Edit External Volumes.

From the Actions menu, select External Storage > Edit External Volumes.

7.

For Inflow Control, select Enable or Disable.

8.

Click Finish to display the Confirm window.

9.

Confirm the settings and enter the task name in the Task Name box.

10. In the Confirm window, click Apply.

Removing, replacing an external path

You can remove a path so it is no longer available to the external volume. You remove a path to
replace it with another external path or to perform maintenance on the physical link.

NOTE:

All external paths must be removed before detaching a channel adaptor, otherwise the

channel adaptor cannot be detached.

Prerequisite information

Before removing a path, make sure it is disconnected. See

“Disconnecting an external path

” (page 51)

for instructions.

Procedure 3 To remove an external path

1.

In Remote Web Console, click External Storages in the Storage Systems tree.

2.

In the External Storages window, select an external system.

3.

In the window for the external system, select a path group row.

4.

Open the Edit External Path Configuration window in one of these ways.

In the External Path Groups tab, click Edit External Path Configuration.

From the Actions menu, select External Storage > Edit External Path Configuration.

5.

In the Edit External Path Configuration window, in the Selected External Paths list, select the
path to be removed and click Remove.
