NOTE:

Write processing to the ESAM P-VOL requires more time generally, but especially when

Business Copy pair status is PSUS (SP), during which copy processing occurs.

For more information on sharing ESAM volumes with Business Copy, see the HP XP P9000 External
Storage Access Manager User Guide
.

LUN Manager

LUN Manager operations do not affect Business Copy operations. Volumes that are under secure
ports and/or that are assigned to World Wide Name (WWN) groups and/or LUN groups can
also be assigned to Business Copy pairs. Volumes that are assigned to Business Copy pairs can
also be used in LUN Manager operations, such as assignment to WWN groups, and/or LUN
groups.

Business Copy secondary volumes cannot be accessed by a host except when the pair is split.

Open Volume Management

Both LUSE and Virtual LUN volumes can be used as Business Copy volumes.

With LUSE volumes, the primary and secondary volumes must have the same configuration
(the same LU capacity and the same number of LUs).

With Virtual LUN volumes, the primary and secondary volumes must have the same capacity.

Resource Partition

You can specify volumes in a Resource Partition resource group as Business Copy primary volumes
and secondary volumes. However, make sure the resource group is assigned to one of your user
groups. The resource group must be assigned to a user group for which your user account has
privileges.

For more information about Resource Partition, see HP XP P9000 Provisioning for Open Systems
User Guide

Continuous Access Synchronous

Continuous Access Synchronous volumes can be shared with Business Copy volumes.

You can share BC primary volumes and secondary volumes with Cnt Ac-S P-VOLs and S-VOLs.
However, you cannot share a BC secondary volume with a Cnt Ac-S S-VOL.

When you share a BC primary volume with a Cnt Ac-S S-VOL, the write operation on the Cnt
Ac-S P-VOL takes more time. This is especially true when the BC pair is in the PSUS(SP) status
because of the copying time needed for the BC pair.
