7 Troubleshooting

This topic provides Business Copy troubleshooting information.

General troubleshooting

The following table provides general troubleshooting information for Business Copy (BC) pairs.

Corrective action

Error

Remote Web Console hangs, or BC
operations do not function properly.

Make sure all BC requirements and restrictions are met.

Make sure the storage system is powered on and fully functional.

Check all input values and parameters to make sure that you entered
the correct information on the BC windows (such as primary and
secondary volumes IDs).

Make sure the correct volumes are selected.

The volume pairs are not displaying
correctly.

Click Tasks in the Storage Systems tree and select the failed task to check
the message.

A BC error message is displayed on
Remote Web Console during an
operation.

If using the previous RWC GUI, which displays in a secondary window,
select the failed volume in the Preview List on the Pair Operation window,
right-click to display the menu, and then click Error Detail.

See HP XP P9000 Remote Web Console Messages for the list of error codes
and corrective actions.

The pair may have been suspended or deleted from the UNIX/PC server
host using RAID Manager. If not, P9500 detected an error condition during

If a pinned track occurs on a BC or secondary volume, the storage system
will suspend the pair. Contact your HP representative for assistance in
recovering pinned tracks.

If you switch to Modify mode during a Quick Restore operation, or if you
perform a Quick Restore while in Modify mode, the pair status remains in
RCPY status.

Pair status remains in RCPY.

To restart the Quick Restore operation, change to View mode.

Also, when performing a setting operation from Remote Web Console or
when a Remote Web Console task exists, pair status may remain in RCPY
status, as mentioned above. To restart a Quick Restore operation, stop the
setting operation from Remote Web Console or terminate the task.

Troubleshooting with RAID Manager

This section provides troubleshooting information for operations performed using RAID Manager.
The following describes RAID Manager error codes and instructions for using them. Also, see

“Troubleshooting the consistency group split operation ” (page 65)

When using RAID Manager, you can identify the cause of an error by referring to either of the
following:

The log displayed on the RAID Manager window

The error code in the RAID Manager operation log file. The default location for this file is:

/HORCM/log*/curlog/horcmlog_HOST/horcm.log

where * = instance number, and, HOST = host name
