Utilities 94

NOTE:

To run these utilities from a command line using Windows Server®, you must either

change directories to the directory that contains them (by default, C:\Program Files\HP

IO Accelerator\Utils) or add that directory to your system path. See the documentation

for your Windows® version for information about adding a directory to the system path.

NOTE:

The command-line utilities require administrator rights to run under Windows®

operating systems. Right-click the Command Prompt menu item and select Run as

administrator.

fio-attach

Description
Attaches the IO Accelerator and makes it available to the operating system. This creates a block device in
the /dev file named fiox (where x is a, b, c, and so forth). You can then partition, format, or set up the

IO Accelerator as part of a RAID array. The command displays a progress bar and percentage as it

operates.

NOTE:

In most cases, the IO Accelerator driver automatically attaches the device on load. Run

the fio-attach utility only if you ran the fio-detach utility or if you set the IO Accelerator

auto_attach parameter to 0.

Syntax
fio-attach <device> [-q, -h, -v]
where <device> is the name of the device node (/dev/fctx), where x indicates the board number ( 0,

1, 2, and so forth). For example, /dev/fct0 indicates the first IO Accelerator installed on the system.
Option
-q Quiet: Disables the display of the progress bar and percentage.

fio-beacon

Description
Lights the PCIe IO Accelerator LEDs to locate the device. Detach the IO Accelerator, and then run the
fio-beacon utility.
Syntax
fio-beacon <device> [-1, -0, -h, -v]
where <device> is the name given by the IO Accelerator driver to your device. This name is

/dev/fctx, where x indicates the device number. The number reflects the PCIe bus for the IO

Accelerator. For example, the name /dev/fct4 refers to the IO Accelerator installed in PCIe Bus 4 in

your system. (Use the fio-status utility to view this number.)
Options

-1 On (default): Lights the three LEDs

-0 Off: Turns off the three LEDs
