Appendix B. DC Heater Kit
The optional DC heater kit consists of the following components:
1- heater with connector attached
1- solid state relay
1- wire nut
1- field power cable

The solid state relay mounts in the logger enclosure. All other components are
in the camera enclosure.
The heater is mounted directly to the camera enclosure window. It gets power
from the solid state relay. The solid state relay switches power to the heater
and is controlled by a control port. The amount of power needed is dependent
upon conditions at each installation and likely won’t be the same from
installation to installation. It is important to understand what the budget is
since the heater requires 1 amp of current.
There are different ways that a customer could run the heater. One method
might be to turn power on for a predetermined time prior to taking an image
then turn the heater off until the next image is scheduled. Another could be to
pulse the heater at a regular interval to keep frost from viewing area.
