after the first double stroke, the pis-
ton is subjected to pressure when
the forces are in equilibrium. Deli-
berate shifting of the piston from
this position is possible only by
applying an
additional external
force (e.g. pressing on the piston
rod by hand). This causes the rele-
vant volume in the cylinder and in
the valve to be further compressed.
When the external force is removed,
the cylinder returns to its previous
position.
Depending on the model, the exter-
nal operation is manual, by pneuma-
tic signal, or by electric signal. The
internal operation is by means of 2
control plungers in each cap (see
diagrams 2 and 3). In the VL type
this operation is direct and in the
other types it is indirect via pilot
valve.
Due to the design of the
valves,
control position a/b is possible sin-
ce Y and Z are not interlocked.
Connection of both signals causes
(independently of the time gap) all
4 poppet valves to be opened (see
diagram 4).
Note
If an external force is applied to the
cylinder piston rod when connecting
this position, the piston rod moves
in the direction in which the force is
applied.
