4.10 BATTERY CHARGING - LITHIUM-ION MACHINE

To check the battery condition on the lithium
ION equipped machine, power up the
machine and use the special indicator shown
at position 8 on the platform control station
LCD display.

or;

Check the three (3) phase charge indica-
tor (item 2) on the side of the Lithium-Ion
battery pack. This indicator shows the
current charge state of the lithium-ion
battery pack as follows;

Red: first phase of recharging.

Yellow: second phase of recharging.

Green: third equalization phase of recharging.

Green: equalization/standby phase. When you're in this
phase, batteries can be considered charged. The charger is
doing the batteries voltage equalization at first and then it's
in standby maintaining batteries at max charge. The time for
equalization can be of some hours but it's not necessary to
complete it in order to consider the recharge phase com-
pleted.

If the machine is powered on while charging,
the LCD display on the platform control sta-
tion also shows the machine charge indica-
tor.

Charging the Battery Pack

Approximate time required to fully recharge the battery
pack:

Full Recharge - 4 hrs. - 120V AC

80% Recharge - 2 hrs. - 120V AC

The batteries can be charged during machine opera-
tion, (obviously the charging times in this case will be lon-
ger)
.

The batteries can be charged when they are not fully

depleted.

If the charge is less than 20% an audible warning signal

will be activated whenever the electric motor is started,
to alert the user to charge the machine.

If the charge is less than 10%, in addition to the audible

warning signal, reduced speed is activated and an icon
comes on in position 4 on the platform station LCD dis-
play.

To start charging the battery connect the main AC power
supply to the AC socket (item 1 - photo) located on the
right rear of the machine next to the electric engine.

After a few seconds the charge indicator (item 2 - photo)
located on the righthand side of the machine on the lithium-
ion battery pack turns red, meaning the battery has started
charging.
