Router

In this mode, this device can provide shared Internet Access to all
your LAN users. Also, by default, it acts a DHCP Server, providing an
IP address and related information to all Wireless and LAN users.

Access
Point

The device links your Wireless Stations to your wired LAN. The
Wireless stations and devices on the wired LAN are then on the
same network, and can communicate with each other without regard
for whether they are connected to the network via a Wireless or wired
connection.
You need to have a DHCP Server on your LAN to provide IP ad-
dresses to the Wireless clients using this Access Point.

Notes:
• Generally, you should NOT use access point mode. Only select this mode if you are sure this is what you want.
• After changing the mode, this device will restart, which will take a few seconds. The menu will also be changed,

depending on the mode you are in.

• For details on using Access Point Mode, see Chapter 8.

3.7 Wireless Options

The Wireless Router's settings must match the other Wireless stations.

Note that the Wireless Router will automatically accept both 802.11b and 802.11g connections, and no configuration is
required for this feature.

To change the Wireless Router's default settings for the Wireless Access Point feature, use the Wireless link on the
main menu to reach the Wireless screen. An example screen is shown below.
