Allowing exclusive control at any access level can result in unexpected
actuator movement.

Unexpected actuator behavior can cause equipment damage, serious injury,
or both.

Ensure that all personnel involved in test design, operation, tuning, and calibration
are properly trained. Be aware of the current user access level and exclusive
control assignment at all times, especially when working in close proximity to an
actuator.

If “Allow exclusive control at any access level” is not checked in the
Handset Options tab, and access level is not already operator, the
access level is switched to operator.

Note

A message is written to the message log each time exclusive control is
switched to the handset or the Station Manager application.

How to Return Exclusive Control to the Station Manager Application

1. On the handset, press

(Exclusive Control).

The asterisk (*) on the handset display is removed to indicate that the
handset does not have exclusive control.

The Exclusive Control check box in the Station Manager window is
available.

2. In the Station Manager window, select the Exclusive Control check box.

The Station Manager application now has exclusive control of the system.

Note

A message is written to the message log each time exclusive control is
switched to the handset or to the Station Manager application.
