6.8 Disc Speed
The disc header can be used to cut a variety of crops.
For the best cutting results, a range of disc speeds is recommended for each type of crop and condition. See
table below.
Crop Condition Disc rpm
Heavy 2300–2500
Alfalfa
Light 1600–2000
Sudan, Sorghum, Haygrazer,
Timothy
Tall and stemmy 2300–2500
Dense 2500
Short grass
Thin 1800–2000
Disc speeds are set and adjusted from the cab using system controls, without shutting down the windrower.
