Table 15. Troubleshooting the MediaChecker

Symptom 1: Display goes blank.

Action

Result

Explanation

Display is active

The Battery Save feature turned the MediaChecker
off.*

1. Turn the rotary switch to OFF, wait 5 seconds and turn

the switch to TEST.

Display still blank

Go to step 2.

Display is active

Batteries were too low to run the MediaChecker.

2. Replace the batteries (see “Replacing Batteries” on

page 36).

Display still blank

Go to step 3.

3. Return the MediaChecker for repair. See “Returning the

MediaChecker for Repair” on page 39.

Problem appears to be a MediaChecker
malfunction.

Symptom 2: The MediaChecker seems to be measuring incorrectly.

Self-test fails

Internal circuitry is defective. Go to step 3.

1. Perform a self-test on the MediaChecker. See

“Performing a Self-Test” on page 38.

Self-test passes

Go to step 2.

2. Calibrate the MediaChecker as described on page 10.

Calibration not effective

Go to step 3.

3. Return the MediaChecker for repair. See “Returning the

MediaChecker for repair” on page 39.

Problem appears to be a MediaChecker
malfunction.

* To disable Battery Save, turn the rotary switch to OFF, then press and hold

E

while turning the rotary switch to TEST.
