4 APE Gate Test-Out Procedure

The following section contains procedures for testing the input/output of the APE gate
to the gate controller.

1.

Turn power off to the Gate Controller PLC.

2.

Set gate to Automatic (gate arm should be down).

3.

Using a continuity tester or a Digital Multi Meter set to Continuity (or Ohms),
verify an open circuit (infinite ohms) from Terminals 1 to 21 of the gate
terminal strip. This denotes the Arm is Down.

4.

Short out the terminals 49 to 42 on the gate terminal strip inside the gate.
Short the terminals using a spare piece of wire. You need only touch the wire
to the terminals for about a second to activate the input. This should raise the
gate.

5.

Using a continuity tester or a Digital Multi Meter set to Continuity (or Ohms),
verify an closed circuit (0-2 ohms) from Terminals 1 to 21 of the gate terminal
strip. This denotes the Arm is Up.

6.

Drive a car through the Loop of the Gate or place a large metal object in the
center of the loop (Metal Shovel, Gate door etc), then remove the metal
object to lower the gate.

7.

Using a continuity tester or a Digital Multi Meter set to Continuity (or Ohms),
verify an open circuit (infinite ohms) from Terminals 1 to 21 of the gate
terminal strip. This denotes the Arm is Down.

8.

Using a spare wire, connect terminal 48(24VDC) to 57 (relay coil +).

9.

Using a spare wire, touch terminal 49(0VDC) to 58 (relay coil -). The coil relay
contacts should close and the gate should rise.

10.

Drive a car through the Loop of the Gate or place a large metal object in the
center of the loop (Metal Shovel, Gate door etc), then remove the metal
object to lower the gate.
