Software method

The hardware method is the simplest approach,
and should be used when possible.

1. Connect the communications cable (RS-232 or RS-485) to the first

MicroLYNX only. (NOTE: power can be connected to all units.)

2. Set the three address switches to OFF (which equals “no address”).

3. Apply power. You should get the startup string shown on page 23, step 3.

4. The address is set with the DN command.

Input:

DN=“x” <ENTER>

The “x” represents the address of your choice, which can be any single

ASCII character from a-z, A-Z, or 0-9.

The address must be enclosed with quotes when naming.
The quotes are not required when sending commands to
the controller.

5. Save the address.

Input:

xSAVE<ENTER>

6. Establish party mode.

Input:

xPARTY=1<ENTER>

The cursor will not move. The MicroLYNX is now in party mode.

In the party mode, all commands must be preceded by
the address

(upper case)

and terminated with

[Ctrl-J].

7. Test the setup by sending the command PRINT VER, requesting the

version of the firmware. (Remember, “x” is the value assigned above.)

Input:

xPRINT

VER[Ctrl-J]

You should receive the line:

Output:

VER = x.xx.

8. If the first controller in a multi-controller setup is connected to the PC by

RS-232, then the Host flag must be set to true (1).

Input:

xHOST=1[Ctrl-J]

Input:

xSAVE[Ctrl-J]

9. Remove power and connect the communications cable to the next

MicroLYNX.

10. Set the three address switches on the new unit to any address different

from the address you assigned in step 4. This will be the temporary
address until you rename the unit as desired with the DN command.

11. Apply power.
