The white bar represents the 
approximate length of tape remaining. 
Time counter
Displaying the remaining tape counter
Press COUNTER/REMAIN to display the remaining tape counter in the 
display window. To display it on the TV screen, press DISPLAY to turn 
the display on, then press COUNTER/REMAIN. Each time you press 
COUNTER/REMAIN, the time counter and the remaining tape counter 
appear alternately.

• When you insert a tape with

the remaining tape length 
may not be correct.
• The display will not appear
during still mode or slow- 
motion playback.

• When a tape is reinserted, 
the counter returns to 
"OHOOMOOS."
• The counter will not work
on tape portions with no 
recording.

Using the time counter
At the point on a tape that you want to find later, press COUNTER 
RESET to reset the counter to "OHOOMOOS." When you rewind or 
advance the tape to this point, refer to the counter.
