Getting the Best Out of Your Camera

Condensation

If condensation occurs, the lens or LCD

panel will become misty and you cannot

take pictures. Try to avoid situations where
condensation is likely to occur and follow
these precautions if it does occur.

What is condensation

Condensation refers to the water droplets

that can form on a cold object when it is

exposed to warm air. For example,
condensation forms on a bottle after it is

removed from a refrigerator and placed in

a warm room.

Preventing condensation

To avoid condensation occurring for
example, after entering a warm ski lodge
from outside, seal the camera in a plastic

bag so that it is not exposed to the air.

If condensation occurs on the lens or other

parts of the camera:

Turn off the power and allow the camera to

stand for about an hour. This will allow the
camera to adjust to the surrounding
temperature and allow the condensation to
evaporate.

Condensation may occur in the
foilowing situations:

• After entering a warm room when the

weather outside is cold.

• After leaving an air conditioned vehicle.
• When a cold room is suddenly heated.
• When the air from an air conditioner is

applied directly to the camera.

• Hot, damp locations.
