External

The External function is used when network equipment is set for Network or
Internal Timing (see Figures 4-12 and 4-13). When connecting KG or KIV
encryptors on the Red side to a DTE device, you should install the external
strapped header in the J3 position. In this application, the modems are acting as an
extension of the Red side cable in a true tail circuit. The modem at the Red end is
set for external clock and the modem at the DTE end is set for slave clock. This
header is provided with the interface.
