Cause & Remedy

i cannot make and receive caiis.

9 The power cord or telephone line cord is not connected. Check the

connections (p. 20).

1 cannot make caiis.

9 The dialing mode setting is wrong. Change to “TONE” or “PULSE”

(P- 20).

The unit does not work.

9 Disconnect the unit from the telephone line and connect the line to

a known working telephone. If the working telephone operates

properly, contact our service personnel to have the unit repaired.

If the working telephone does not operate properly, contact your

telephone company.

The unit does not ring.

® The ringer volume is set to off. Adjust it to a suitable level (p. 25).

The other party compiains they only

hear a fax tone and cannot talk.

9 The FAX ONLY mode is set. Tell them the number is used for

faxes only or change to another mode (p. 42, 43).

The speakerphone is not working.

• Use the speakerphone in a quiet room.

9 If you have difficulty hearing the other party, adjust the volume

using [T] or F

@ If parts of your conversation are cut off, you and the other party

spoke at the same time. Speak alternately.

The [ REDiAL/PAUSE) button does

not function properiy.

© If this button is pressed during dialing, a pause will be inserted. If

pressed immediately after a dial tone is obtained, the last number
dialed will be redialed.

The receive mode does not function
as explained on pages 42 and 43.

@ A ring pattern detection is set (p. 50, 51).

During programming,! cannot enter

the code or !D number.

® All or part of their numbers are the same. Change the number

(p. 53, 66).

I cannot send documents.

9 The other party’s fax machine was busy or ran out of paper. Try

again.

® The other party’s machine is not a facsimile. Check with the other

party.

9 The other party’s fax machine rings too many times. Send the fax

manually - dial the number, confirm the fax tone, then press

(START/COPY/SETl.
