APPENDIX K: BMK 2.0 DUAL-FUEL SWITCHOVER

INSTRUCTIONS

Prior to operating a Benchmark 1.5 Dual-Fuel Unit on either Natural Gas or Propane, a number of
checks and procedural steps must be performed prior to performing the initial start-up and
combustion calibration. These checks and procedures:

• set the Fuel Selector Switch to the proper position.
• adjust the Max Fire Rate setting in the Configuration Menu of the C-More Control Box

Detailed instructions for performing these tasks are presented in the following sections.

SWITCHOVER FROM NATURAL GAS TO PROPANE

To switch from Natural Gas to Propane operation, proceed as follows:

1. Refer to Figure K-1 and locate the Fuel Selector Switch on the unit, behind the front door.
2. Set the Fuel Selector Switch to the PROPANE position. A Low Gas pressure Fault message

will be displayed on the Control Box.

3. Clear the Low Gas Pressure Fault by pressing the CLEAR key.
4. Set the ON/OFF switch on the C-More /control Box to the ON position.

Natural Gas and Propane Gas Trains of the unit.

21. Figure K-2 shows a Dual-Fuel unit with a FM Gas Train containing one Natural Gas SSOV

and one Propane SSOV with regulators. If your unit contains an IRI Gas Train [also called a
Double Block and Bleed (DBB) Gas Train] it will contain two (2) Natural Gas SSOVs and two
(2) Propane SSOVs, one with a regulator and one without. For IRI (DBB) Gas Trains, the
downstream SSOV is the one containing the regulator.

22. Replace the front door and sheet metal panels previously removed from the boiler.
23. This completes the steps necessary to switch from Natural Gas to Propane operation.
