You should now be able to hear the sound that is in location 40 of the board you have selected (make sure
that a sound exists in the bank MSB, LSB and program location or you will hear nothing!)

But how do you get to know which sound is in which location? This is covered in greater detail in the section
entitled “Notes on MSB and LSB messages, and how to read the MIDI spec of Yamaha PLG cards” It
requires a certain level of understanding of bank messages, as PLUGSTATION is trying to do something
which no other device can really achieve, and that is accept and interrogate any and up to 4 of Yamaha’s
PLG cards. From controlling software this is not so much of an issue, as the controlling software will only
contain bank select and program messages for locations, which DO contain a sound. The front panel display
is to give some flexibility in using PLUGSTATION in a live situation, where a computer may not be present.

Once you have selected an appropriate voice you may now wish to set its volume output level, and output
routing (which of the 8 individual outputs the sound comes from). Volume setup for each card is achieved by
selecting the YVOL option in the PARA menu as below.

This sets the output volume level of each of the individual boards. The current board you are working on will
be the volume level adjusted. This YVOL output level control has a maximum value of 127. If you are
