The width of all the atltches! prqductd on this
machine, with the obvious амсерйоп of
itraieht atiteh, «ih, be made шго^^ or
wider by adjustl»^ the adtch width control.
To decrease or Increase the width of a stiteh,
turn the stitch width comroi dW J • 4.
The hiaher the number the wider the stitch.
Recommended settin| rartaf are coior-
codid to patterns on the stitch selector dial.
When sewina with a dou^ needle*, cordrol
the stitch vvldth within white sone on the dial.
NOTEi Double needle wW hH iieedle plate
and break if stitch width is set out of
white xone on the dial.
Some models enable you to straight stitch
with the needle in any of three pop tlons -
left, riaht or center. These positions are
deaianaWl as L, R or C on the atiteh width
dial. Details for sewina in diese poaItJons are
given on page 21 and 36.

It Is best to begin and finish ^ms ^th
stitches taken In reverse about J4 nch. This
is called BACK TACKING. Back tacking
fastens the ends of the seams firmly and
prevents raviiing.
When reverse edtchlng Is needed, push d^
the lever and hold there during aewing. The
fabric will immediately start f^lng beck*
wards end seem will be fastened. See page 19
end 21 for details,
NOTi: When you operate the lever while
sewing straight stretch stitch, the
machine sews only straight stitches
and does not sew straight stitch in
reverse.
Do not use the lever while sewing
zigzag stretch stitches. The machine
sews only zigzag stitches in reverse.
SUrrONHOLE CONTIIOL
This control is used in making bar tacked
buttonholes with two conw settings.
