The remainder of the buttons are as follows:

VIEW SETUP

This function allows users to view the pass/fail thresholds used for the automatic
tests.

TEST SETUP

Pressing the function button associated with TEST SETUP activates the AUTO Test
Setup menu. Test parameters can be modified and the test can be run once again
from this screen.

MAIN MENU

Select MAIN MENU to return to the Main Menu.

8.11.3 Running a VF AUTO Test


Use caution when connecting the test set, as telephone cables may have dangerous A.C. or D.C.
voltages on them.

NOTE: The Automatic tests use the currently set parameters for the tests it runs. Please review the
setup for each test by going to that tests setup menu before continuing with the Auto-Test.

NOTE: The CableSHARK will work with milliwatt sources providing a tone or a tone + silence. The
CableSHARK’s VF POTS Auto-test will not test to a quiet termination source. For non-working pairs,
execute the VF AUTO NO POTS TEST option

From the Main Menu, press the AUTO TESTS function button (F2) to access the AUTO TEST MENU. Start
the VF AUTO POTS test by pressing F1 or VF AUTO NO POTS test by pressing F2. The CableSHARK will
perform a DMM test (Voltage, Resistance, Capacitance), a Load Coil Test, a TDR test, a Longitudinal
Balance test at 1 kHz, a Dial test including Loss, Frequency, Noise, and a Power Influence Test. Results are
presented in both a text format as well as a graphical format.
