5.2 Connecting the CableSHARK to the Line
The CableSHARK P3 VF/DSL Cable Qualifier is used to qualify copper telco cable of the local loop to see if
it is suitable to carry Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) technologies. The CableSHARK can be configured to
perform Single-Ended (one unit) and End-to-End (two units) tests. The following sections will describe how to
connect the CableSHARK P3 VF/DSL Cable Qualifier to the line for each of these tests.
5.2.1 Test Cable and Connector Requirements
The CableSHARK can be ordered with an optional Siemens (CF) connector to three colour coded Telco
clips. The CF connector inserts into the CableSHARK CF jack on the rear panel, while the three telco clips
are color coded for Tip, Ring, and Ground and are for use with the service provider’s equipment. The
following is a diagram showing the cable:
