Troubleshooting & Replacement Parts
5.1 Troubleshooting
This section lists potential problems with the system, indicates possible causes, and suggests
corrective action. This list does not include every possible problem, but it does represent some
of the more common situations that may occur. If the problem persists, contact Daktronics.
Note: Be sure to power on the announcer’s rack and cabinet breakers. Make sure all
connections from source to the cabinet are complete.
Symptom/Condition

No audio from cabinet, but

No power at cabinet
Turn breaker on
Poor sound quality from
cabinet (distortion)
Poor source material (CD or
MP3 with heavy compression

Bring source level down

Check driver resistance
to verify defective equipment
Audio from cabinet is

Amplifier modules within
control enclosure are

Reduce source output level
Driver Resistance
Check the driver resistance with an analog or digital multimeter at the amplifier in the
control enclosure or at the speaker/cabinet and compare it to the values shown below:
Note: Disconnect cables prior to measuring resistances.
If readings are too high/too low, the driver(s) may need to be replaced. Contact Daktronics.
After taking measurements, be sure to reconnect all cables to the correct terminals.
