SOFTWARE

The PLC gateway provides a means of moving data between the nodes on the
MicroTrac LAN and the Modicon 800 Series REmote I/O Network. It does
this by being a node on the MicroTrac LAN and also pretending to be one or
more remote drops on the remote i/o network of the Modicon PLC. These
drops are referred to as simulated drops because they are not physical drops
with racks containing real modules. The gateway software allows the
following:

Logics

• PAC block LOGI, inputs from the PLC discrete output modules.

• PAC block LOGO, outputs to the PLC discrete input modules.

Numerics

• PAC block NUMI, inputs from the PLC register output modules.

• PAC block NUMO, outputs to the PLC register input modules.

• PLC access to PAC GETN and RDCI values.

The PLC gateway looks to the Modicon PLC as one or more drops. Even
though these are simulated drops, the PLC treats them as normal drops, so the
simulated drops must be defined in the Modicon Traffic Cop. Care must also
be taken to insure the simulated drops are being scanned by the S908 remote
i/o processor:

• A drop cannot be both real and simulated, so choose a drop number

that is not already in use by real drops.

• Simulated drop numbers can be in the range of 1 to 24.

• The PLC gateway can only access modules in rack 2, slots 1 to 9. If

you define modules in other racks and slots, you can not access them
through the PLC gateway.

• Modules can only be of types B804 (16 bit discrete output), B805 (16

bit discrete input,), B864 (8 channel register output), or B865 (8 channel
register input).
