Reservoir Fluid Level
Checking

Metal Ventra Reservoir

1.

Turn off the engine, apply the parking brakes,
and chock the tires.

2.

Open the hood.

3.

Clean around the power steering reservoir fill cap
with a clean rag, then remove the dipstick.

WARNING

Fill only with approved clean fluid. Do not mix
fluid types. Any mixture or any unapproved fluid
could lead to seal deterioration and leaks. Fluid
leakage could cause loss of power steering assist,
possibly resulting in personal injury and property
damage.

4.

With the power steering fluid at operating tem-
perature, check the fluid level on the dipstick. If
below the ADD mark, add enough fluid to bring
the level up to the FULL mark on the dipstick.
Use Dexron

®

III automatic transmission fluid

(ATF) in the power steering reservoir.

5.

Install the fill cap on the power steering reservoir.

6.

Close the hood, and remove the chocks from the
tires.

Nelson Reservoir

NOTE: If the power steering reservoir in the ve-
hicle looks like the reservoir shown in

Fig. 3

,

use the following procedure.

1.

Turn off the engine, apply the parking brakes,
and chock the tires.

2.

Open the hood.

3.

With the engine cool, the level should be be-
tween MIN COLD and MAX HOT lines with the
engine off. Add or remove fluid as necessary to
bring the fluid level to the line between the MIN
COLD and MAX HOT lines. Use only Dexron

®

III

automatic transmission fluid.

4.

With the engine hot, the fluid level should be at
the MAX HOT line with the engine off.

5.

Add or remove fluid as necessary to bring the
fluid level to the MAX HOT line. Use only
Dexron

®

III automatic transmission fluid.

6.

Close the hood, and remove the chocks from the
tires.
