Measurement of the local dose rate

After mounting, i.e. as soon as the radioactive emitter is mounted in

the source holder, the local dose rate in the area of the source con-

tainer and the detector must be measured in µSv/h.
Caution:

Depending on the respective installation, radiation can also leak out-

side the beam exit channel due to scattering. In such case, it must be

shielded of by additional lead or steel sheets. All control and off-limits

areas must be rendered inaccessible or marked respectively.
Behaviour with empty vessel
Caution:

With empty vessel, the control area in the environment of the vessel

must be measured on radiactivity after professional mounting and if

there is any, the area must be cordonned off and marked. Possible

access option for the inside of the vessel must be locked reliably and

marked with a warning label "radioactive".
The responsible radiation safety officer can allow access after check-

ing the safety measures with switched off source container.
If work must be carried out in and on the vessel, it is absolutely neces-

sary to switch off the radiation on the source container.
