Local (RGB) Inputs connectors — Connect analog computer-

video sources to these 15-pin HD female connectors.

N

The video that is input on this connector is converted to the

proprietary TP signal that normally output by the MTP 15HD
transmitters, eliminating some of the transmitters in your system.

N

Extron recommends against tying a local (RGB) input to a local (RGB) output;

the image displayed from such a tie may be overpeaked.

N

When either the input or output of a tie is local (RGB), Extron recommends that

the MTP output or input be connected by a minimum of 50’ (15 m) of TP cable

to prevent o

verpeaking.

N

The matrix switchers can also input and switch HD component video,

component video, S-video, or composite video on the Local Inputs connectors by
using the appropriate adapters.

• Input only sync signals, no video signals, on the sync

pins, 13 and 14.

For component video, use the R (R-Y) and R return

pins (pins 1 and 6), G (Y) and G return pins (pins 2 and
7), and B (B-Y) and B return pins (pins 3 and 8).

For S-video, use the R, R return (C-chroma), G, and G return (Y-luma) pins.
For composite video, use the G pin and the associated return pin. For

additional genlocked video signals, use the R, B, and associated return pins.

Audio Inputs (local audio) connectors — Connect a balanced or

unbalanced stereo audio input to these 3.5 mm, 5-pole captive

screw connectors. Connectors are included with each switcher,

but you must supply the audio cable. See figure 2-5 to wire a

connector for the appropriate input type and impedance level. Use the

supplied tie-wrap to strap the audio cable to the extended tail of the

connector. High impedance is generally over 800 ohms.

Figure 2-5 — Captive screw connector wiring for audio inputs

C

The length of the exposed (stripped) portion of the copper wires is important.

The ideal length is 3/16” (5 mm). Longer bare wires can short together.
Shorter bare wires are not as secure in the captive screw connectors and
could be pulled out.

C

The captive screw audio connector can easily be inadvertently plugged

partially into one receptacle and partially into an adjacent receptacle. This
misconnection could damage the audio output circuits. Ensure that the
connector is plugged fully and only into the desired input or output.
