Device Security Settings
The EWS supports two administrative roles identified as “service” and “admin”. These administrative
roles are designed to meet the needs of service providers who lease devices to customers. The service
user (representing the service provider) must be capable of setting up metered billing services, etc. The
admin user (representing the customer) must be allowed to configure the device on their local intranet,
perform remote management etc.
When the device is shipped, the admin password is not set, which means that the system is unprotected.
In this case, any EWS user will automatically have all admin privileges until a password is set. After that,
only the admin and the service users will have access to the Device Security Settings page. The admin
password can be reset (set to blank value) to unprotect the system again, in the same way as the default
configuration.
