18 Job Accounting Print Client

To track local printers connected to client desktops via USB, LPT1 or Standard TCP/IP port, install the Job

Accounting Print Client. The Job Accounting Print Client is installed on client desktops where local print

activity is tracked and then sent to the Job Accounting Database Server.

1.

Copy the HP Access Control (HP AC) Job Accounting Print Client application from the server (located in

the C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\HP Access Control\client setup folder) to the client desktop.

Run the HP Access Control (HP AC) Job Accounting Print Client application on the client desktop and

follow the on-screen instructions.

On the Setup Type screen, select one of the following configuration modes:

Automatic using print processor configures all printers connected via USB.

Automatic using port monitor configures all printers connected via Local Port or Standard TCP/IP

Port.

Manual configuration requires you to manually configure printers with Printer Configuration tool.

Click Next.

On the Select Features screen, select Track Novell if you want to use the Novell protocol. Click Next.

Select HTTP or FTP as the desired transfer protocol to upload print tracking data to the Job Accounting

Database Server. Click Next.

6.

In the Server field, type the name or IP address of the Job Accounting server. Click Next. Click Finish.

If you selected Manual configuration during the HP Access Control (HP AC) Job Accounting Print Client

installation, go to Start > All Programs > HP Access Control Job Accounting, then click Printer

Configuration. In the Printer Configuration application, select installed printers from the Windows Printers

list, then click Configure printer.
