3 Requirements for XP Snapshot operations

This chapter describes requirements for using XP Snapshot, installing XP Snapshot, and calculating
the number of pairs that XP Snapshot can create.

Install shared memory for the differential table on the base board.
Configure shared memory so you can create the V-VOL management area in
the shared memory.
For the XP12000/SVS200, reserve from 512 MB x 2 to 2 GB x 2 capacity
of the shared memory for the V-VOL management area on the optional board.

Shared memory

Install XP Business Copy.

Prerequisite software product

Capacity used by XP Snapshot will be subtracted from the license capacity
for XP Business Copy. Therefore, you need to ensure that the license capacity
for XP Business Copy is larger than the capacity to be used by both XP Business
Copy and XP Snapshot.

License capacity

Create the pool. The pool's maximum capacity changes with shared memory's
capacity.

Create the V-VOL.

V-VOL

Command View XP or XP Remote Web Console and XP RAID Manager are
required to operate XP Snapshot.

Operation

Because the XP10000/SVS200 does not have the optional board, you must reserve 342 x 2 capacity of the shared memory

on the basic board if you are using the XP10000/SVS200.
