Recovering blocked pools

When a pool is blocked, you must recover the pool-VOLs, pool, XP Snapshot pairs, and V-VOLs in
this order. This section describes the procedure to recover the blocked pool.

Recovering pool-VOLs

If the pool-VOL is blocked, contact your HP account support representative.

Recovering pools

1.

Click the Volume Manager button. The Volume Manager pane appears.

2.

Select the Pool tab. The Pool pane appears.

3.

On the Pool pane, select and right-click the blocked pool in the Pool tree, and select Restore Pool.
A confirmation message appears.

4.

Click OK. The selected pool's icon changes to the icon indicating normal status.

5.

Click Apply. A confirmation message appears.

6.

Click OK. The confirmation message closes, and the pool on the array is restored.

When there is more than one blocked pool, you can restore all blocked pools at one time by executing
the following procedure:

1.

On the Pool pane, select and right-click the XP Snapshot icon in the Pool tree, and select Restore
Pool(s)
. A confirmation message appears.

2.

Click OK. The block pools' icons in the Pool tree change to icons indicating normal status.

3.

Click Apply. A confirmation message appears.

4.

Click OK. The confirmation message closes, and the pools on the array are restored.

You can check whether the pool is recovered from the blocked status in the Pool pane. If Status of the
Pool Information displays Normal, or if the icon in the Pool tree indicates the normal status, the blocked
pool is restored successfully.

You can also recover the pool by doing one of the following:

Add some pool-VOLs (see “

Creating new pools

” on page 52).

Delete snapshot data to decrease the pool's usage rate (see “

Deleting snapshot data

” on page 65).

Delete XP Snapshot pairs to decrease the usage rate of the pool (see

Deleting Snapshot XP pairs

” on page 65).

Usage rate and pool status appears in the Pool Information box in the Pool pane. Use the information
in the box to decide how many pool volumes to add or which snapshot data to delete.

Recovering XP Snapshot pairs

When the pool is blocked, the status of all XP Snapshot pairs that have snapshot data stored in the
pool changes to PSUE. To recover PSUE pairs, delete those pairs. For more information about deleting
pairs, see “

Deleting Snapshot XP pairs

” on page 65.
