6 Troubleshooting

This chapter describes general troubleshooting for using the Command View XP or XP Remote Web
Console and XP Snapshot.

General troubleshooting

You are responsible for the operations and usual maintenance of the Command View XP management
station or XP Remote Web Console. For more information about general errors and troubleshooting
those errors, see the HP StorageWorks Command View XP user guide for XP Disk Arrays or the HP
StorageWorks XP Remote Web Console user guide for XP12000/XP10000/SVS200
.

When operating the Command View XP management station or XP Remote Web Console, check the
following:

Network and wiring
Ensure that the computer's wiring is secure. Check the wiring on the computer and LAN regularly.

Rebooting the computer
Before rebooting the computer, quit Command View XP and the web browser.

Error code
For more information about error codes displayed on the Command View XP management station
or XP Remote Web Console and the measures against those errors, see the HP StorageWorks
Command View XP user guide for XP Disk Arrays
or the HP StorageWorks XP Remote Web Console
user guide for the XP12000/XP10000/SVS200
.

Status lamp
When the status lamp on the Command View XP or XP Remote Web Console main pane is yellow
or red, use the Status pane to check the status of the array. If you cannot fix the problem, contact
your HP account support representative.

Obtaining trace files using the FD dump tool
When an error occurs and you cannot fix the problem, obtain the Command View XP or XP Remote
Web Console trace file using the FD dump tool, and contact your HP account support representative.
