Installing an Interface Expansion Board

Connecting the LocalTalk Interface Cable

To connect to the LocalTalk interface port, you need a cable
correctly wired for this printer and your computer. The cable must
also have the proper connectors. Your dealer or technical support
person can supply you with the proper cable.

For example, the LocalTalk Locking Connector Kit—DIN-8 (Apple
product) is available. Also refer to your computer documentation for
the type of connector required by its LocalTalk port.

Notice:
Be sure that the printer is turned off before connecting the interface
cable.

Do not touch any connector contacts to avoid possible electrostatic
damage to the printer.

To make the connection, firmly plug the cable connector into the
LocalTalk interface port on the back right of the printer. Plug the
other connector into your computer’s LocalTalk port. Consult your
computer documentation if you need help.

Selecting the LocalTalk Interface

The printer’s standard interface is parallel. While the LocalTalk
interface board is installed, the printer automatically detects that the
computer is using the LocalTalk interface.
