6-17. Creating an Alarm Wave File
There is a “Sound Recorder” application included with Windows98, ME, 2000 and XP. This
software enables you to record a sound file, which can be used as a warning sound when motion
detection is triggered. You can make a warning sound file by doing the following.
Record
Stop
Play
Open the Sound Recorder application by clicking on the
button.
To record a sound
Make sure you have sound card and an audio device attached to your computer. Examples of
audio devices are CD players and microphones.
1. On the function menu, click “File” and then “New”.
2. To begin recording, click the “Record” button.
3. To stop recording, click the “Stop” button.
4. Click on the “Play” button to listen to what you have recorded.
5. On the File menu, click “Save As” button to save the recorded Wave file.
Note: If you wish to make a Wave file for use with the “Phone notification” function, the file format
must be 8000Hz, 16-bit, Mono.
